*For whoever finds wisdom finds life and receives favor from the Lord**
Pr 8:35*

*The story is told of a wise old Chinese woodcutter who lived on the
troubled Mongolian border. One day his favorite horse, a beautiful white
mare, ran away and ended up on the wrong side of the border, where she was
seized by the enemy. The woodcutters friends all came to commiserate with
him over this bad news.
How do you know its bad news? he asked. It might be good news.
A week later, the mare returnedalongside a beautiful stallion. The mans
friends came again, this time to congratulate him on the good news of this
new addition to his herd.
How do you know its good news? he asked. It might be bad news.
The next day, the woodcutters only son decided to try the stallion. It
threw him, and he broke his leg. The friends paid another visit: Were so
sorry about this bad news, they said. To which the man replied, How do you
know its bad news? It might be good news.
Within a month, war broke out between China and Mongolia. Chinese recruiters
came through the area, pressing all the young men into the army. They all
perished, except for the woodcutters son. He couldnt go off to war because
- you guessed it – his leg was broken.
You see, the wise old woodcutter told his friends, the things you
considered good were actually bad, and the things that seemed bad were
actually good.
Life is like that isnt it. In the words of that great philosopher Forrest
Gump, Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what youre gonna
get. Would you agree that a lot of times its hard to be sure which end is
up? The Bible explains that recognizing life is full of enigmas and learning
to depend on God, who possesses all knowledge, is *wisdom*.
Victim of a series of devastating defeats in his career, in all probability
Olympic speed skater Dan Jansen would have tossed in the towel long before
he won the gold medal in 1994 had he not learned to keep defeat in
perspective. Competing in the youth national skating championships at the
age of nine, Jansen was positioned to take the title when, rounding a turn,
he tripped on a lane marker costing him the victory.
Devastated, Jansen cried the entire drive home, six hours. When they finally
pulled into their driveway, his dad, who had said nothing about the loss
until then, passed on a bit of insight that has stuck with Jansen ever
since: You know, Dan, theres more to life than skating around in a
circle.
Tough words from a father to a heartbroken son, but his dads broader
perspective was just what the younger Jansen needed to successfully navigate
the fierce storms of competition that lay ahead. Similarly, God offers his
perfect and all-knowing wisdom, his broader perspective, to help us
successfully navigate the fierce storms of life. Its little wonder todays
proverb says that to find Gods wisdomwhich, by the way, God offers free of
charge on the pages of the Bible – is to find life and receive Gods favor.

Quite often, pre-nuptial agreements are thought of negatively. In some cases, however, a pre-nup can be helpful and even give peace of mind. A pre-nup defines to whom property belongs and can prevent legal arguments later, should a divorce or death occur. If you own a business, have children or someone needing special care, or have large assets (and are planning to get married), you might benefit from a pre-nup.
To discuss a pre-nuptial agreement or other legal issues, contact Richardson Law Firm, at 918-492-7674 or www.richardsonlawfirmpc.com
